Launch an AI Project this Summer
Your child can build an AI project and participate in competitions in 9 sessions!
Instructor, Ram Prasad will “hand-hold” you as students build from scratch an application using Natural Language Processing algorithms used in the real world. He will explain where and how these algorithms are used.
By the end of the summer, students will have a real-world demonstrable application that they can showcase to the world!
Age group: High school
Bonus: Students will be introduced to AI competitions.
June 27 - August 3, 2023, Tuesdays and Thursdays at
8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST
Final Presentation: TBD

Benefits
Creating and spearheading an AI Project adds immense value to the college profile.

ACTIVITY LIST
AI Project can be included in the extracurricular activity list, resume, and any awards received as a result of Research. Colleges like to see hands-on projects that a student has spent time creating.

COLLEGES LIKE TO SEE REAL-LIFE PROJECTS
College admissions officers recognize the value of high school passion projects and feel that the very act of completing such extensive projects speaks to a student’s passion, perseverance, intellectual capacities, and ability to handle challenges.

SUPPLEMENTAL ESSAYS
By engaging in performing coding activities like AI, high school students develop critical thinking, logical reasoning, problem-solving, deep learning, and analytical skills. A variety of supplemental essays would allow you to discuss students' AI projects and explain why a particular college is a good fit for them.

DATES AND TIMING
AI Project-Based Program
June 27 - August 3, 2023, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST
Course Details
Session-1 Introduction to AI libraries, Kaggle data sets
AI libraries, Kaggle data sets, csv read and write, excel read and write, plotting libraries in Python
Date: Tuesday, June 27 at 8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST
Session-2 Advanced Python for AI
In these sections, students are introduced to various popular ai libraries in Python and some sample use cases for those libraries. In addition, the students will learn in-depth how to manipulate files in csv format and read and write such files to the file system. Plotting libraries will also be integrated to ensure the students can chart and plot their results using popular libraries.
Date: Thursday, June 29 at 8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST
Session-3 Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Probability, and Statistics
Students will get a basic understanding of the terms Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Natural Language Generation and where they are being used.
They will also learn a few basic mathematics, probability, and statistics which will be used in building a machine-learning model. The student will research applications they are using every day that use AI and present it to the class at the end of week 1.
Date: Tuesday, July 18 at 8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST
Session-4 Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Fundamentals
Students will be introduced to the various machine learning models and their practical usage in the real world. They will learn about Supervised algorithms - Regression, Classification, and Unsupervised algorithms.
Date: Thursday, July 20 at 8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST
Session-5 Data - exploring, cleaning, visualizing, and building our first model
Students will be introduced to Rapidminer, a data science platform, and the tool they will be using to build and deploy their applications. Students will learn to explore the data available and produce visualizations from it. They will learn to look for information and insights from the data and understand it. We will then build a model to predict housing prices in the US.
Date: Tuesday, July 25 at 8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST
Session-6 Build a machine learning model to predict house prices.
We will download, and clean housing data, and build a model to predict the housing prices in the US.
Date: Thursday, July 27 at 8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST
Session-7 Building a machine learning model to predict the best video games
Use top video game data to build a machine learning model to predict which future video games will become a hit or miss.
Date: Tuesday, August 1 at 8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST
Session-8 Fine tune AI Project
Students review, brainstorm and fine-tune their projects.
Date: Thursday, August 3 at 8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST
Session-9 Final Presentation of AI Projects
Date: TBD
Bonus: How to prepare for AI competitions in Kaggle Datasets
Detailed Schedule

Bonus
Preparing for AI and Machine Learning competition
Participating in competitions will force students to try many different techniques as they quickly iterate toward a solution. Students of this AI program will be introduced to different competitions using Kaggle datasets. Participating in and winning competitions helps students with their college profile.
