The 12-week Research on Neuroscience and Physiology for High School Program is where the student will conduct research and write a scientific journal guided by a University Professor, a prominent researcher, and an expert in 
Neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and Huntington's disease, including biomarker development, Protein membrane interaction, and protein-peptide biochemistry. 
High Students will be guided to write a 4000+ word research paper and submit it to journals.

Research Publishing

The Gifted Gabber Research program prepares students to publish their scientific journals approved by the Neuroscience Research Professor in various journals that accept research projects from high school students.

Students can submit final drafts for publishing in Journals that accept research papers by High School Students.

(Note: Publishing journals is student-driven, and Gifted Gabber assumes the role of Mentor, and the cost of publication fee is taken care of by students.)

Lead Researcher

Name-with-held, Assistant Professor of Physiology and Neuroscience, University of Southern California

Name-with-held, an esteemed Assistant Professor of Physiology and Neuroscience at the University of Southern California, has an extensive background in neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and Huntington's disease, particularly in biomarker development. With over seven years at USC, he's known for fostering solid scientific collaborations, leading to timely research outputs. His notable achievements include co-leading an NIH R21 grant to develop a Parkinson’s disease biomarker and publishing over 20 peer-reviewed research articles. Name-with-held mentoring prowess has benefited many students, from high school to doctoral levels, promoting a culture of high performance and personal development.

Prof. Kay P. Diaz Licensed English Professor, Published Author, and Former Campus Research Director

Dev. Ed.D. in English (In Progress), Master of Arts in Teaching, Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in English

Kay Diaz has been a literary, language, and research educator for over 20 years. She spent three years managing a Korean language school, five years teaching junior high school English at a La Salle school, and sixteen years teaching English at the University of Cebu, one of the biggest colleges in the Philippines. 

She spent four years working for UC as the Program Research Coordinator for the General Education Department on one of its campuses.
She received a promotion to the role of Campus Research Director in 2019.
She resigned her job in January 2023 to finish her doctorate in development education. During her tenure as a lecturer, she co-wrote and published five English books that were widely used on campus.

Your Instructor

Jothsna Kethar, Mentor and Coach

As her students call her, Coach Jo is an Independent Educational Consultant and College Counselor. She is a certified Tony Robbins Life Coach. Trained to identify children's goals and be their supportive friend and trusted adviser. She has also trained under Peg Dawson, EdD., a renowned psychologist. She uses this understanding to coach children to discover their strengths to overcome the hurdles and roadblocks on their path to success. She is also a certified Meditation Instructor and strives to empower parents in their child's educational journey.

Jo also runs a nonprofit named InspireYouth, a 501©3 organization that aims to empower youth and foster leadership. InspireYouth aspires to create lifetime humanitarians out of teens by providing volunteer opportunities to contribute, learn, and grow! 

She completed her College Counseling course at UC Berkeley. Building a customized college list is her specialty. Her students have landed in Ivy League colleges such as Cornell, also landing in affordable colleges, winning merit aid/scholarships to the tune of over 5 million dollars in total.

Program Coordinator

Lorie Hazel, Program Coordinator, and Lead 

A psychologist-in-training, a registered psychometrician, and a psychology lecturer.

As a dedicated Psychology Lecturer since June 2022, Lorie has specialized in teaching college students the intricate psychological theories and perspectives on learning. Her approach focuses on enabling students to apply theoretical concepts to real-life situations, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter within our blended learning setup.Smrutha has been instrumental in successfully getting 2022 Summer Research students to complete and publish their research papers.
